advrt

A Motion alternative for brands that need tests, not dashboards

Motion (motionapp.com) is creative analytics from $999/mo for up to $50k monthly spend. advrt makes ads and tests them on Meta against your 30-day baseline, from $19.99/mo.

Motion is creative analytics for teams that already spend a lot on ads: reports, AI tagging and briefs across Meta, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn. advrt sits earlier in the loop. It makes new ads from your product photo and runs a fair test on Meta to tell you which ones work.

Motion or advrt: the short answer

Motion and advrt answer different questions. Motion answers "what is working across all the ads we already run, and why?" with reports, AI tags and comparisons across Meta, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (motionapp.com, checked October 2026). advrt answers "which of these new ads should we keep?" by making the ads and running a controlled test on Meta.

If you spend well over $10k a month across several channels and have a creative team that needs direction, Motion's analytics are the stronger tool, and nothing in advrt replaces them. If you spend a few thousand a month on Meta, don't have a creative team, and need new ads plus a clear verdict on each one, advrt does that from $19.99/mo against Motion's $999/mo Starter plan (as of October 2026).

Why buyers look for something other than Motion

Your spend doesn't justify $999 a month

Motion's Starter plan is $999/mo. For a brand spending $3k to $5k a month on Meta, that's a large share of the ad budget.

You need the next ads made

Motion's core product writes briefs and recommendations for designers and editors. If there's no one to hand the brief to, the ads still don't exist.

You want a verdict per ad

Account analytics compare ads that ran with different budgets, audiences and dates. A controlled test gives each new creative the same budget and setup.

Where each tool is stronger

Motion does some things advrt doesn't. Here are both lists.

Motion is stronger at

Analytics across your whole account
Motion's reports group every creative you've run across Meta, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, with over 200 metrics, comparative reports and launch analysis.
AI tagging and patterns
Motion auto-tags Meta creatives by asset type, visual format, hook, messaging theme and more, so you can see which patterns win across hundreds of ads.
Built for teams and agencies
Unlimited seats, shareable live report snapshots, roles, GA4 and Northbeam attribution, an MCP server and a Slack-based AI teammate called Runneth.

advrt is stronger at

It makes the ads
3 to 6 angles per campaign with hooks, Meta copy and video scripts, then image ads from your real product photo and video with Veo 3, Kling 2.1 or Luma.
It runs the test
One ad set per creative, equal daily budgets, built paused. Each ad is judged against your account's last 30 days, and losers can pause automatically.

What is Motion, and who is it for?

Motion is a creative analytics platform at motionapp.com, not to be confused with the Motion calendar app. Its homepage pitch is "Make ads that win (without getting lucky)", and it says it shows "what's working, why it's working, and the exact ads to make next" (motionapp.com). It reports on Meta, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn ads, groups creatives so you can compare formats and messages, and claims more than 200 metrics.

Its AI tagging labels creatives by asset type, visual format, audience, messaging theme, offer and hook tactic. According to Motion's help center, tagging "is only available for Meta creatives with spend in the last 90 days" (Motion help: AI tagging). Its feature matrix shows several reports, including launch analysis, as Meta only (Motion feature matrix).

Every paid plan now includes Runneth, an AI teammate that works in Slack and writes briefs, hooks and reports (Motion help: Runneth). The pricing page lists unlimited seats and ad accounts on every plan. This is a tool for teams with real spend and people to brief.

Does Motion run creative tests?

Motion analyses tests; we found no feature in its core product that sets them up. Its launch analysis tracks recently launched creative, and its reports compare groups of ads after they've run. We didn't find an A/B test builder, a budget split or a statistical method on Motion's product or help pages in October 2026.

Motion's pricing page does list "closed-loop pipelines built with you, signal to launched ad" on the Growth plan, for brands spending over $125k a month (Motion pricing). That's a custom service for large accounts, and we couldn't see how its tests are structured.

This is the main practical difference. Analytics across an account tell you which ads did well, but those ads usually ran with different budgets, audiences, placements and dates. A controlled test holds those steady so the creative is what differs. advrt gives each creative its own ad set with the same daily budget and the same targeting, then judges each against your account's own history.

Where does Motion's analysis beat advrt's test results?

Motion is far stronger at seeing the whole picture. advrt only reports on the ads it tested; it doesn't read the rest of your account, tag creatives, show fatigue, break down placements or compare agency against in-house work. If your question is "what has worked across 400 ads over 6 months?", advrt can't answer it.

Motion also covers YouTube and LinkedIn ads, connects to GA4 and Northbeam for attribution, and has a read-only MCP server for Meta data. advrt has none of these. advrt's MCP server and API are in development, and it doesn't integrate with attribution tools.

Teams with a strategist and a creative team often get more from Motion's patterns than from any single test, because the patterns guide dozens of future ads. Smaller brands without that team usually get more from a tool that makes the next ads and tells them which to keep.

What do Motion and advrt cost?

Motion prices by monthly ad spend. As of October 2026, Starter is $999/mo for up to $50k of monthly ad spend; Pro (over $50k a month) and Growth (over $125k a month) are priced on request (Motion pricing). Motion's help center says spend is measured over the last 3 months and nothing switches off automatically if you go over. A free trial is available with no card required.

advrt prices by plan, not by spend: Free (5 ad generations a month), Basic at $19.99/mo (100 generations, live tests on Meta, publishing to Meta and TikTok) and Pro at $49/mo (unlimited generations, up to 50 brands, 14-day trial).

Here is the math for a brand spending $5,000 a month on Meta. Motion's Starter plan would cost about 20% of that ad budget. advrt's Basic plan would cost under 1%. At $50,000 a month, Motion's Starter is 2% of spend, which is easier to justify if the team acts on the analysis.

How much data does a verdict need?

Analytics can only find a winner once an ad has enough data. We computed how much advrt's own rules need, straight from its verdict code (lib/loop/judge.ts). When an account has fewer than 10 purchases in the last 30 days, advrt judges each ad on click-through rate against the account's CTR with a one-sided z-test at α = 0.1. This table shows the impressions one ad needs before advrt can call it.

Account CTR (last 30 days)Ad CTR 20% better or worse30% better or worse50% better
0.5%8,172 impressions3,632 impressions1,308 impressions
1.0%4,066 impressions1,807 impressions1,000 impressions
1.5%2,697 impressions1,199 impressions1,000 impressions
2.0%2,013 impressions1,000 impressions1,000 impressions

advrt never calls a CTR verdict under 1,000 impressions, and stops at 20,000 impressions or the spend cap. The ad must also be at least 20% above or below the account's CTR.

Purchases need more data. With a purchase baseline, the fastest winner is 3 purchases within 1.1× CPA of spend, which means a CPA about 63% below your account's. With 10 purchases, an ad can be called a winner with a CPA about 38% below. Small differences don't show up at small budgets, whatever the tool.

That's the case for using both kinds of tools at the right scale. A test like advrt's tells you early whether a new creative is clearly better or clearly worse than normal. Account-wide analytics like Motion's find the subtler patterns, but only once enough ads have run with enough spend.

Questions about Motion and advrt

Is this the Motion calendar app?
No. This page compares advrt with Motion at motionapp.com, the creative analytics platform for ad teams. The Motion task and calendar app at usemotion.com is a different company.
Does Motion make ads?
Motion's core product analyses ads and writes briefs. Its AI teammate, Runneth, is included in paid plans and lists static images among its deliverables. We didn't find video ad generation on Motion's site in October 2026. advrt generates image and video ads from your product photo.
Can advrt replace Motion's reports?
No. advrt reports on the ads in its own tests: spend, CTR, purchases, CPA and the verdict for each. It doesn't analyse the rest of your account, tag creatives or cover YouTube and LinkedIn.
How does advrt pick a winning ad?
Each ad is compared with your account's last 30 days. With at least 10 purchases in that window, it uses a Poisson test on purchases and needs at least 3 purchases with a CPA 15% better. Otherwise it uses CTR with a one-sided z-test and at least 1,000 impressions. Verdicts don't flip once called.
How much does Motion cost?
As of October 2026, Motion's Starter plan is $999 a month for up to $50k of monthly ad spend. Pro and Growth are priced on request. Motion offers a free trial without a card.
Can I use Motion and advrt together?
Yes. Some teams use Motion to find patterns across the account and advrt to make and test the next round of ads on Meta. They don't share data, so you'd run them side by side.
