A Marpipe alternative for creative testing on Meta
Marpipe now focuses on catalog (DPA) ad design, from $199/mo. advrt makes product ads and tests each one on Meta against your account's 30-day baseline, from $19.99/mo.
Marpipe made its name with multivariate creative testing. In 2026 its site sells catalog ad templates, product-level video and feed management instead. If testing new ad concepts is the job you need done, this page shows how advrt does it and where Marpipe is still the better buy.

Marpipe or advrt: the short answer
Pick Marpipe if your ads are catalog ads. Its current product turns a product feed into designed Dynamic Product Ads, adds price, badge and countdown effects per SKU, makes a template video for every product and pushes feeds to Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest and Snapchat (Marpipe catalog creative, checked October 2026). advrt does none of that.
Pick advrt if you want to find out which new ad concepts work. advrt writes 3 to 6 angles for a product, makes image and video ads from your real product photo, launches each creative in its own Meta ad set with an equal daily budget, and calls winners and losers against your ad account's own last 30 days. Paid plans start at $19.99/mo against Marpipe's $199/mo Startup plan (as of October 2026).
| Option | Best for | Main tradeoff | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marpipe | Catalog-heavy stores that run Dynamic Product Ads across several channels and want every SKU designed, filtered and fed automatically. | Built for catalog ads. We couldn't find a current product page for concept-level creative testing or a published method for picking winners. | Free plan; Startup $199/mo; Enterprise $999/mo (as of October 2026) |
| advrt | Shopify and DTC brands testing new image and video concepts for a handful of hero products on Meta. | No catalog or DPA templates, no feed management, and tests run on Meta only. | Free; Basic $19.99/mo; Pro $49/mo |
| Both | Stores with a large catalog that also want to test new prospecting concepts. | Two tools and two bills. Marpipe covers retargeting and catalog ads, advrt covers concept tests. | From $199 + $19.99 per month |
- Marpipe's homepage pitch in October 2026: "Turn your product feed into your brand's best catalog ads."
- Marpipe's Startup plan caps you at 500 SKUs, 1 channel, 1 market and 3 live designs.
- advrt gives each creative its own ad set and equal budget, then judges it against your last 30 days of Meta results.
- At a $40 account CPA, advrt can call a zero-purchase ad a loser after about $92 of spend.
- Marpipe's SKU Optimization filters are free; advrt has nothing like them.

Why buyers look past Marpipe
You came for multivariate testing
Marpipe's 2020 launch and 2022 blog posts describe multivariate creative tests. Its 2026 product pages are about catalog ads, and its old /multivariate-testing page returns a 404.
Your catalog is small
A store with 10 to 50 products usually needs better concept ads more than per-SKU catalog design. Marpipe's tools pay off most when there are hundreds or thousands of SKUs.
You want new creative, not new templates
Marpipe's pricing FAQ says its ads are "automated" rather than AI-generated, and you design the treatments. advrt writes the angles and generates the images and videos.
Where each tool is stronger
Marpipe does some things advrt doesn't. Here are both lists.
Marpipe is stronger at
- Catalog and DPA design at scale
- Drag-and-drop templates that pull feed fields, if/then rules by price or inventory, smart cropping, background removal, and effects like strikethrough prices and countdown clocks.
- Product-level video for every SKU
- Template-based video built from your existing product images for the whole feed. Marpipe says it doesn't use AI for this, so the output stays on brand.
- More channels and free SKU filtering
- Feeds go to Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest and Snapchat. Its SKU Optimization filters, which drop low sellers or high-return products from catalog ads, are free.
advrt is stronger at
- A published testing method
- One ad set per creative with an equal daily budget, judged against your account's last 30 days with a Poisson test on purchases or a CTR test when purchase data is thin.
- New concepts, written and made for you
- 3 to 6 angles per campaign, each with hooks, a Meta headline, primary text, a CTA and a video script, then image ads from your product photo and short video ads.
- Losers paused, winners iterated
- Losing ads can pause automatically. A winner can be turned into 3 new variations in one click.
- Cheaper to start
- Free plan with 5 ad generations a month and no card. Live tests start on Basic at $19.99/mo.
What does Marpipe sell in 2026?
Marpipe sells catalog advertising. Its homepage describes itself as "catalog advertising superpowers for the agentic era" and promises full control over Dynamic Product Ads. The product menu has five items: Catalog Creative, Product Level Video, Generative Catalogs, SKU Optimization and Feed Management (marpipe.com, checked October 19, 2026).
Catalog Creative is a design canvas for feed-driven ads. Templates pull text, images and prices from the product feed, and if/then rules change the design by category, price or inventory, for example showing a sale badge when the discount is over 20%. Product Level Video turns each SKU image into a short templated video; the page says "we don't need to use AI for this" (Product Level Video). Generative Catalogs applies image models to a feed for lifestyle backgrounds and upscaling, with video listed as coming soon (Generative Catalogs).
SKU Optimization is free and does something advrt doesn't: it removes the bottom 30% of products by monthly sales, or high-return SKUs, from catalog ads (SKU Optimization). Feed Management sends tailored feeds to any channel that accepts a feed URL (Feed Management).
What happened to Marpipe's multivariate testing?
Marpipe launched as a multivariate creative testing tool. Its September 2020 launch post described a freemium self-serve product that uploaded creative into Meta Ads Manager and reported per-asset results within about a week (Marpipe blog, 2020). An August 2022 post explained the test structure: "each ad variant is in its own ad set," so Marpipe could "control for an even spend across all variants" (Marpipe blog, 2022).
In October 2026 we couldn't find that product on Marpipe's current site. The old multivariate testing URL returns a 404, the help center's categories are all about catalog ads, and the one place "creative testing" appears is the Catalog Creative page: "This is creative testing for catalog ads," with a line about testing unlimited variants at once. That page doesn't describe ad sets, budgets or how a winner is chosen.
That matters if you searched for a Marpipe alternative because you liked the old idea: equal spend per variant so every creative gets a fair shot. advrt uses the same structure for concept ads, one ad set per creative with an equal daily budget, and adds a published rule for when to stop. Many pages that rank for this search still describe Marpipe as a testing tool, so check its current site before you compare.
How does advrt run a creative test on Meta?
advrt builds one Meta campaign per test with one ad set per creative, gives every ad set the same daily budget, and creates it all paused. Nothing spends until you confirm the budget and switch it on. Targeting is by country and ages 18 and up, so the creative is the main thing that differs between ad sets.
Before launch advrt records your ad account's last 30 days as the baseline. If the account had at least 10 purchases in that window, each ad is judged on purchases against the account's cost per acquisition. With fewer purchases it falls back to click-through rate and needs at least 1,000 impressions before it can call anything. Results sync daily.
- Winner: at least 3 purchases, a CPA at least 15% better than the account's, and a Poisson probability of 10% or less that the account's normal rate would produce that many.
- Loser: spend of at least 1.5× the account CPA (minimum $10) and a 10% or lower probability of so few purchases. With zero purchases that happens at about 2.3× CPA.
- Inconclusive: the ad reaches 5× CPA (or 3 days of budget, whichever is higher) without a clear result, and stops there.
- Once a verdict is called it doesn't flip. Losers can pause automatically and winners can be spun into 3 variations.
Catalog ads or concept ads: which problem do you have?
Catalog ads and concept ads do different jobs. A Dynamic Product Ad shows the product a shopper viewed or a similar one, usually to people who already know the store. A concept ad has to stop someone who has never heard of you, so the angle, hook and visual matter more than the price badge.
If most of your Meta spend goes to Advantage+ catalog or retargeting campaigns across hundreds of SKUs, Marpipe's per-SKU design rules and feed tools are aimed at that. Its Startup plan covers 500 SKUs and 3 live designs on one channel, and Enterprise removes the channel and design limits (pricing page, October 2026).
If your growth depends on prospecting with a few hero products, the bottleneck is usually new concepts and a fair way to test them. That is what advrt is built for: import a product from a URL, Shopify (up to 250 products per run) or a CSV, get 3 to 6 angles, make the ads, and test them.
How do Marpipe and advrt prices compare?
Marpipe publishes its prices. As of October 2026 the Catalog Creative plans are Free ($0, design previews and un-enriched DPA), Startup at $199/mo (1 channel, 1 market, 3 live designs, 500 SKU cap, daily sync) and Enterprise at $999/mo billed monthly, or $999/mo plus $0.50 per SKU on yearly billing. Extra SKUs are sold in blocks of 200 for $100, and seats are unlimited (Marpipe pricing).
advrt has three plans: Free (5 ad generations a month, 1 brand), Basic at $19.99/mo (100 generations, up to 5 brands, live tests, publishing) and Pro at $49/mo (unlimited generations, up to 50 brands). Neither tool's price includes your ad spend.
For a small store testing concepts, the gap is $199 against $19.99 a month. For a store with 5,000 SKUs running catalog ads on four channels, advrt simply doesn't cover the job, so price isn't the deciding factor.
What does a fair per-creative test cost at your CPA?
We computed this table from the verdict code advrt runs (lib/loop/judge.ts), not from a benchmark. It shows how much one creative has to spend before advrt can call each outcome, at three account CPAs. Multiply by the number of creatives for the whole test.
| Account CPA (last 30 days) | Earliest winner: 3 purchases by | Loser with 0 purchases at | Loser with 1 purchase at | Stops as inconclusive at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $20 CPA | $22 | $46 | $78 | $100 |
| $40 CPA | $44 | $92 | $156 | $200 |
| $60 CPA | $66 | $138 | $233 | $300 |
Method: purchases modelled as Poisson with λ = spend ÷ account CPA, one-sided α = 0.1. The fastest winner needs 3 purchases within 1.1× CPA, which means a CPA about 63% below the account's. The stop point assumes a daily budget per ad below 1.67× CPA.
Two things stand out. First, a dud is cheap to find: with zero purchases advrt calls a loser at about 2.3× CPA, so at a $40 CPA that's $92 per bad creative. Second, an early winner has to be dramatic. To be called after 3 purchases, an ad has to beat your CPA by more than half. A creative that's only 20% better will usually run to the stop point and come back inconclusive, which is the honest answer at small budgets.
For a 5-creative test at a $40 CPA, the worst case is 5 × $200 = $1,000 if nothing is decided. Marpipe's 2022 approach had the same equal-spend idea, but we couldn't find a published stopping rule to compare against.

Questions about leaving Marpipe
- Does Marpipe still do multivariate testing?
- We couldn't find a current product page for it in October 2026. Marpipe's 2020 and 2022 blog posts describe multivariate tests with one ad set per variant, but its current site is about catalog ads, and its old multivariate testing page returns a 404. Its Catalog Creative page calls itself creative testing for catalog ads without describing a method.
- Is advrt a catalog or DPA tool?
- No. advrt makes concept ads for individual products and tests them on Meta. It has no feed templates, no per-SKU rules and no output feeds. If catalog ads are your main channel, Marpipe is built for that job.
- How does advrt decide a winner?
- Each ad is compared with your ad account's last 30 days. With purchase data, an ad needs at least 3 purchases, a CPA at least 15% better than the account's and a Poisson probability of 10% or less under the account's normal rate. Without purchase data it uses click-through rate with a one-sided z-test and at least 1,000 impressions.
- Which is cheaper, Marpipe or advrt?
- As of October 2026 Marpipe's paid plans start at $199/mo and advrt's at $19.99/mo. Both have free plans. They cover different jobs, so compare against the job: catalog ads at scale suit Marpipe, concept testing on Meta suits advrt.
- Can I use Marpipe and advrt together?
- Yes. They don't overlap much. A common split is Marpipe for catalog and retargeting ads and advrt for testing new prospecting concepts on hero products. advrt doesn't integrate with Marpipe, so the two run separately.
- Does advrt support TikTok, Google or Pinterest?
- advrt publishes to Meta and TikTok Ads. Live tests run on Meta only. There's no Google, Pinterest or Snapchat support. Marpipe pushes feeds to Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest and Snapchat.
