Arcads vs HeyGen: which AI avatar tool is better for ads?

HeyGen: avatar video platform, Creator $29/mo for 600 credits (31 per Avatar IV minute). Arcads: ad-only, 1,000+ actors, credit plans with dollar prices in-app.

HeyGen is a general AI video platform whose strength is your own digital twin and translation. Arcads is built only for ads, with a large actor library and an agent that can publish to Meta. We're advrt, a third tool without talking avatars, so we've been clear about where we fit.

Arcads

AI ad platform built for performance marketers: 1,000+ AI actors, product videos, static ads, an agent that can publish to Meta, and credit plans.

Pick Arcads if you make ads only and want a large actor library, ad formats and an agent that publishes to Meta.

HeyGen

General AI video platform centred on your own avatar: digital twins, 175+ languages for translation, product placement and URL-to-video, from $29/mo.

Pick HeyGen if you want your own digital twin, translation into many languages, or video beyond ads.

advrt

Ads built around your real product photos, then fair live tests on Meta.

Pick advrt if you need product-accurate image and video ads and a fair Meta test with winner and loser calls, from $19.99/mo. No talking avatars yet.

The short answer

Choose HeyGen if you want to appear in the ads yourself, translate videos into many languages, or make video beyond ads, such as training or explainers. Its pricing is public, its free plan lets you try it without a card, and its digital twin starts from a short webcam recording (HeyGen pricing; Avatar V, checked October 2026).

Choose Arcads if your only goal is performance ads and you want a library of ad-style actors, product formats, competitor ad research and an agent that can publish to Meta (What is Arcads?). Choose advrt instead of both only if you don't need a talking person: it makes product-photo ads and tests them on Meta.

Which one fits your team

Pick Arcads if

  • Every video you make is an ad, and you want ad-native actors and formats
  • You want many different faces, ages and settings, not your own
  • You want an agent to research, generate and publish to Meta
  • You want to track competitors' Meta ads in the same tool

Pick HeyGen if

  • You want to be the face of your ads without filming each one
  • You need to translate existing videos into many languages
  • You also make training, sales or explainer videos
  • You want public prices and a free plan to start

Pick advrt if

  • You sell physical products and need them to look exactly right
  • Image ads and short product videos are enough for now
  • You want a fair test: one ad set per creative, equal budgets
  • You want winners and losers called against your account's last 30 days

How are Arcads and HeyGen different?

HeyGen is a general AI video company. Its homepage headline is "AI videos starring you, made in minutes," and its focus is your Personal Avatar: your face and voice without filming every video (heygen.com). Ads are one use among many, next to training, sales and translation.

Arcads is built only for ads. Its help center says it is for "performance marketers, e-commerce brands, app and game companies, service businesses, and agencies," and everything in it, from the actor library to competitor ad research, points at paid social (What is Arcads?).

So the question is less which is better and more whose face you want. If it's yours, HeyGen is designed around that. If it's a range of creator-style actors, Arcads is.

Which one handles products better?

HeyGen's product placement app combines a product image with an avatar, generates four candidate images, then animates the chosen one with a script. Its help center says it is optimised for handheld or small products and that "larger items... may appear scaled down to fit naturally in the avatar's hand" (HeyGen product placement). The feature is on Creator and above.

Arcads offers an actor holding your product, unboxing POV, cinematic product shots from your image and static ads. Its help center notes that library actors aren't holding your product yet; you generate an image of an actor holding it first, then make it talk (Show a product in a video).

Both approaches put a generated person next to your product. advrt takes the opposite route: it edits your real product photo into lifestyle, UGC-style and headline scenes, with a prompt that tells the model not to change the product's shape, colours, label or logo. It can't make the person talk.

Can you publish or test ads from either?

Arcads can. Its Mark agent can connect to Meta Ads, "read campaign performance, clone the winner and publish new ads" (Arcads performance marketing). We didn't find a description of how it structures a test or decides a winner.

HeyGen's ad pages say you can "download and upload them to your preferred ad platforms" (HeyGen AI video ads). Some tool pages mention tracking performance signals, but we didn't find a native Meta or TikTok publishing integration or ad analytics in its pricing table or help center.

advrt is built around the test. Each creative gets its own Meta ad set with an equal daily budget, and each is judged against your ad account's last 30 days, with purchases if the account has at least 10 in that window and click-through rate otherwise. Losers can pause automatically.

How much talking-avatar video does each plan buy?

Both tools sell credits at different rates, so we converted each vendor's published rates into video per month. HeyGen charges per minute of finished video; Arcads charges per video for Arcads 1.0 and per started minute for its other talking models.

Short ads change the maths. A 20-second hook on Arcads 1.0 still costs a full 800 credits, the same as a 2-minute testimonial, while HeyGen bills by the minute of finished video. If you make many short hooks, HeyGen's per-minute pricing is easier to stretch. If you make fewer, longer videos with a range of actors, Arcads' per-video price works in your favour.

Neither number includes failed renders. In advrt's own showcase run, about 1 in 3 product videos needed a second render. Plan for some waste on any generative video tool.

Questions buyers ask

Is Arcads or HeyGen better for UGC ads?
Arcads is built only for ads and has a large library of creator-style actors, ad formats and an agent that can publish to Meta. HeyGen is stronger if you want your own digital twin or need translation, and it has UGC formats too. For pure UGC ad volume with varied actors, Arcads is the more focused tool.
Which is cheaper, HeyGen or Arcads?
HeyGen publishes prices: Creator is $29 a month for 600 credits, which buys about 19 minutes of Avatar IV video-look footage. Arcads shows dollar prices only in its app; its Starter plan has 8,000 credits, enough for 10 Arcads 1.0 talking-actor videos.
Can HeyGen or Arcads put my actual product in the video?
Both can show an avatar holding a product image. HeyGen's help center says its product placement works best for small, handheld items. Arcads' help center says you first generate an image of an actor holding the product. advrt edits your real product photo into ads but has no talking avatars.
Do Arcads and HeyGen have free trials?
HeyGen has a free plan with a small number of watermarked videos a month and no card required. Arcads has a 72-hour trial with 1,000 credits that needs a card, and Starter begins automatically afterwards.
Where does advrt fit?
advrt makes image ads and short product videos from your real product photo, then tests them live on Meta against your account's last 30 days. It's useful next to an avatar tool, not instead of one.
